I think I'm in love with Robert Downey Jr. The first time I recognized him as an actor was from Iron Man. I love that movie. Just watched it again today. I saw Sherlock Holmes yesterday, which also stars him. That was a great movie. It's a very different Sherlock Holmes, so don't be disappointed that it isn't the same as the book. Apparently he is very good at playing eccentric geniuses. I can't wait until Iron Man 2 comes out. Next May :-( Anyway I highly recommend Sherlock Holmes. It was a very good movie. I also recommend Avatar. It is a simple straightforward movie, all the good people are completely good and all the bad people are completely bad, no twists or ambiguity, but still a cool movie. It was a very pretty movie, with great special effects. |

5 Surprising Ways to Fight Depression 1. Exercise - aerobic exercise is best; also watch your posture, especially when sitting. I bend compressing my diaphragm making it harder to breathe. 2. Get some sun - Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), everyone is somewhat subject to it. Bright multi-spectral light is really what you need. Get right of the (evil, evil) flouresant lights! Bright 100W incandesant bulbs are much better for you. 3. Play a video game - "...certain NON-VIOLENT distract depressed people from systematic thought patterns & self doubt..."; I don't own any non-violent video games ... actually I do, Freecell comes with every Windows O/S. I think the accomplishment of 'winning' puts one in a better mood. 4. Skip Processed Foods - totally agree, way too much sugars and salts in them. Eat white rice based meals without extra sugar and salt (i.e. really, really bland) for a week, then you'll taste how much sugar and salt is really in our fattening foods. 5. Indulge in the 'Mediterranean Diet' - same as #4 above IMHO. Pop a multivitamin, and maybe some fish oil.
4 Steps to Making the Right Decision This one had a signpost with Easy Way, and Hard Way. I know which way I'd select ... the Hard Way. It's the only way to fly. :) I suspect that this is the key to the gate that bars the Easy Way ... 1. Take your time - should I turn to avoid hitting that wall, should I ... BLAM ... maybe not always appropriate ;) 2. Limit your options - but there are so many beautiful women out there that love me ... 3. Do the math - iff you can quantify it ... emotions are very difficult to quantify. 4. Don't Look Back - probably the best advice. Beneficial self-delusions work well ... love you.
4 Ways to Stop Procrastination 1. Priortize Tasks - works well for doing the important, rather than the urgent 2. Question your Beliefs - "I work well under pressure", "I don't have the ability", "It has to be done perfectly", etc. - for some 3. Control your impulses - force yourself to complete one task before starting another; easier said than done 4. Old Habits Die Hard - you don't get rid of bad habits, you replace habits with with other habits. Hopefully, you replace bad habits with better habits. -- basically, acquire the habit of discipline, and it is a habit. "A great truth is a truth whose opposite is also a truth.' — Thomas Mann So at times the exact opposite needs to be done 1. Play, don't do the important tasks. Play is need to maintain a healthy mental attitude. 2. Follow your beliefs - as you know yourself better than others do. 3. Give in to your impulses, especially when they "follow your passion", or your fate, or life's mission. 4. Habits are useful to get us to do that which we need to do. Once good habits are ingrained, don't change them. For some reason, it's easier to acquire a bad habit than a good habit; I think because our bodies are lazy, and need our mental efforts to do the things we really need to do.

A TOUGH OLD COWBOY FROM SOUTH TEXAS COUNSELED HIS GRANDSON THAT IF HE WANTED TO LIVE A LONG LIFE, THE SECRET WAS TO SPRINKLE A PINCH OF GUN POWDER ON HIS OATMEAL EVERY MORNING.
THE GRANDSON DID THIS RELIGIOUSLY TO THE AGE OF 103 WHEN HE DIED.
HE LEFT BEHIND 14 CHILDREN, 30 GRANDCHILDREN, 45 GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN, 25 GREAT-GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN, AND A 150-FOOT HOLE WHERE THE CREMATORIUM USED TO BE. |

I'm like the grinch, I hate Christmas. Everything is closed and everyone is busy. I missed my medication today because I ran out and the pharmacy was closed by the time I got there yesterday, and closed all day today. So in effect it is Christmas's fault that I'm grumpy (or maybe my bad planning? Naawwww, couldn't be). When I was in Israel and everything closed down every Saturday I realized that holidays you don't celebrate that cause everything to shut down suck. Of course Shabbat in Israel is way worse than Christmas because it happens every week. Merry Christmas everyone! |

| Odd revelations |
[Dec. 22nd, 2009|07:47 pm] |
There was a gathering of theater people of different generations from my high school at Starbucks today, which I coincidentally showed up for without knowing. Hey, random hanging out, good times. My brother's ex-girlfriend was there, and I still didn't get to talk to her or really get a look at her, but before I noticed anyone else was around besides me and my book, everyone was apparently remarking on how eerily similar the two of us look.
And then once I did look up, they all agreed that yes, she does in fact resemble me greatly.
Twitch. Twitch. Ew.
Again, though, good to see the old gang, and people I don't really know but can talk to anyway. The only teacher I really had a meaningful relationship with was Tim, in Drama, and being able to talk to him now, still, on an equal a level as ever is nice. He never felt as much of an authority figure to me, and I might even venture to say he's a friend now, and it's good to know that relationships can continue despite time and decreasing frequency of contact.
And now, back to my sandwich. |

| | surprised | ] | Some of you may remember Mr. Lawyer and my stories about his crazy, but for those who don't, he was my employer one summer several years ago--he was semi-retired, crochety, and completely baffled by technology. Myself and another girl ran his errands and helped him find paperwork for a criminal case involving a former business partner who was stealing company funds.
Mr. Lawyer sent me a Christmas card, informing me that this guy lost his appeal and is in jail, and he thanked me for my help.
I'm surprised he remembered me, and rather touched, actually.
I just hope that in the last three years he's figured out how to reload the printer. |

You said that I make you feel beautiful. Thank you, but I can't do that. I wish I could make people feel beautiful, but that comes from within. It is their CHOICE to feel beautiful or not. I can stimulate you; give you the opportunity to feel. I can make it easier to choose to be happy, but I cannot make that choice for you.
I can remind you that you are beautiful, and smart, and outgoing, and talented, and good, and loving, and so many other good things. I can remind you that you are loved. I can remind you of the beauty that rests in you soul, but you must release that which is within. You must feel your feelings, and I wish them to be good, comforting feelings.
You are worthy of having all the good, pleasant things in this life. You have many good friends that would hold you close and compfort you when life is difficult. You have the talents & strength to push through and succeed when others would abandon that path. But it's your path, and you must walk it. hugs,
